How to brief an AI commercial for your product.

Prepare product references, creative direction, formats and reviews for an AI commercial. Copy the brief template and send your ideas to ShotModo.

By ShotModo

Start with one product and one idea.

Tell us what the viewer should remember about your product. A fragrance film might build a feeling through light and texture; a folding product might need a clear demonstration of its mechanism. Describe the intended audience and where the film will appear. This helps us plan an AI scene, real product footage or a combination of both. A short description is enough to start the conversation.

Identify the details that must stay accurate.

Send clear photographs of the product from useful angles, including the packaging and any details that will appear close to the camera. Identify the final colour or variant. Tell us which parts need precise control so we can plan photography, footage or compositing where appropriate. We confirm whether the concept needs a physical sample before you arrange shipping.

  • Product shape, materials, colour and proportions
  • Logo artwork, packaging text and label placement
  • Moving parts or functions that need real demonstrations
  • Approved product specifications and on-screen claims

Explain what you like in a reference.

Choose a few references and point to the useful details: the lighting, colour, pace, camera movement or type of setting. Describe the opening image, the main product moment and the closing frame you have in mind. For example, “warm light around the bottle, a close-up of the cap, then a clean packshot” gives us more to work with than “make it cinematic.” Share assets you have permission to use, and flag any person, logo or design that should not appear.

List the versions before production.

Tell us the intended channels, video lengths and aspect ratios. A vertical social ad and a landscape website film may need different framing, text placement and edits. Include languages, captions, voiceover, music or product sound where required. If a platform has specific upload requirements, send them with the brief. We confirm the export list and any third-party usage needs in the quote.

Agree the concept, budget and review points.

Share a budget range and target date so we can discuss a workable scope. The concept and storyboard are reviewed before the film is developed. The quote sets the scenes, versions, revision scope and schedule; it does not assume unlimited video revisions. Nominate one feedback contact and collect your team’s notes into one response for each draft. Changes to an approved concept, product or scene list are reviewed against the agreed scope.

Copy this AI commercial brief.

Fill in what you know and mark undecided items “to discuss.” We use the brief to plan the approach and quote; it does not commit you to a production schedule.

Product and variant: [name, link or description] Audience and main message: [who the film is for and what they should remember] Product assets: [photos, packaging artwork, logo, existing footage] Details that must stay exact: [shape, colour, text, movement] Creative references and what I like: [links and specific notes] Scene idea: [opening, main product moment, closing frame] Channels, lengths and aspect ratios: [requested versions] Text, languages and audio: [titles, captions, voice, music or product sound] Budget range and target date: [details; scope and schedule to confirm] Review contact: [person collecting feedback] Usage needs: [channels, placements and territories]

Send the brief and references to the team.

Choose AI Commercials on the project brief page. Add your product details and paste the completed template into the notes. Prepare the brief, then review and send it from your own email or WhatsApp app. You can attach reference files in that conversation. ShotModo reviews the concept, assets and production needs with you before confirming a quote; the website does not place an order or collect payment.
